It really is a special experience for bird of prey enthusiasts and it is all about you and the birds. All our birds are treated as family and live a stress free life in a rural environment. Yarak has often been described as a secret world of birds in the the most tranquil of settings. A relaxing retreat from the modern world.
Get Hands On
Yarak is renowned for its hands on experiences. Unlike other centres that are mainly display centres with you watching birds fly, here at Yarak you get to handle or fly many different species of birds from Owls, Hawks, Falcons and Eagles.
Part of the Family
Our birds of prey have amazing personalities and we treat them like family, not tools of the trade. The reason our birds are so content is that this is their environment first and foremost, and unlike birds kept at theme parks and other falconry centres, our birds do not have to cope with excessive noise and disruption.
Good to Know
All experiences are by appointment only.
Minimum age of 7 yrs
Opening Days are Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday
Come whatever the weather!

“What a great, good value day out! This was a real insight into the world of the birds. Both informative and fun, it’s pitched just right and kept us interested all day, with a few laughs thrown in for good measure! The owner John is a wealth of information and clearly dedicated to the welfare of his ‘avian family’. Thanks also to Sue, a friendly volunteer who looked after us well all day. The groups are kept small and you are given a close up experience and ample time to hold the birds. You can also take part in flying them to and from the glove… fancy holding an eagle anyone?!! Don’t worry about the weather… they have an indoor area where the birds can fly too. Not somewhere I would take babies/small children, unless they can sit quietly/ not run around. The good coffee and tasty food available on site are a bonus! Please try to book direct with Yarak so as much of your money goes to the rescue and welfare of the birds as possible.”

Here at Yarak Birds of prey we take in birds that are in need of help and strive to accommodate them during their rehabilitation. We have no external funding for this care and rely on donations from the public to continue this work, so please consider helping us in this task.
Welfare Comes First
Many of the birds here have come from unsuitable backgrounds being kept by the inexperienced, resulting in psychological and physical trauma. A lot of these birds have been integrated into our flying team at our falconry centre, whilst others prefer the safety of their aviary environment as they have lost all trust for people. For them, Yarak is like a retirement home, where they can live a fruitful and peaceful life with plenty of stimulation.
